Privacy policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Kept & Kin collects when you visit our website or buy from us, why we need it, who we share it with and what your rights are.
Who we are
Kept & Kin is a trading name of Cody Bannister, a sole trader in the UK. We are the "data controller" for the personal information described here.
- Address: Bay B34, Unit 66 Queens Court Trading Estate, Greets Green Road, West Bromwich, West Midlands, B70 9EQ
- Email: hello@keptandkin.com
What we collect
- When you order: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number (if you give one) and what you bought. Card payments are handled by our payment provider: we never see or store your full card number.
- Your personalisation: the names, dates and words you type, and any photos you upload, so we can make your gift.
- When you contact us: your name, email address and whatever you tell us in your message.
- When you join our email list: your email address.
- When you browse: information about your device and how you use the site (for example pages viewed and your basket), collected with cookies. See "Cookies" below.
Why we use it
- To make and deliver your order, send order and delivery updates, and help if something goes wrong. We need this to carry out our contract with you.
- To answer your messages. This is in our legitimate interest in looking after our customers.
- To keep records such as orders and refunds, because the law requires it (for example for tax).
- To send marketing emails (your welcome code, a reminder before the Christmas cut-off and occasional offers), only if you've signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- To prevent fraud. Shopify checks orders for signs of fraud. This is in our legitimate interest in keeping the shop and our customers safe.
- To run and improve the website and, if you allow it, to measure our adverts. Non-essential cookies are only used with your consent.
Your photos
We use the photos you upload only to make your order. We don't use them in our adverts or on our website unless you've given us your clear permission first. Please only upload photos you have the right to use.
Your photos are stored by Printify and its personalisation tool so your order can be made, and reprinted if something goes wrong. If you'd like them deleted once your order is complete, email us and we'll ask Printify to delete them.
Who we share it with
We only share what each company needs to do its job for us:
- Shopify, which runs our online shop, checkout, payments (Shopify Payments), fraud checks and emails.
- Printify, including its personalisation tool (which receives the photos and words you add) and the UK print workshops it works with, which make your gift. They receive your personalisation, name and delivery address.
- PayPal and Klarna, if you choose to pay with them. They handle your payment under their own privacy policies, and Klarna may run its own checks before offering to let you pay later.
- Delivery companies (such as Royal Mail), which receive your name and address to deliver your parcel.
- Our email provider (Microsoft Outlook), where messages sent to hello@keptandkin.com arrive.
- Google, which lists our products in Google Shopping and, only if you accept advertising cookies, measures how our adverts and listings perform.
Some of these companies store information outside the UK (for example in the USA or Canada). When they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law. We never sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
- Order records: 6 years, because tax law requires it.
- Uploaded photos and personalisation: kept by Printify so your order can be made and reprinted if needed. Ask us and we'll have them deleted once your order is complete.
- Messages: up to 2 years after we last hear from you.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe.
Cookies
Cookies are small files saved on your device. Some are needed for the shop to work, for example to remember your basket. Others help us understand how the site is used or measure adverts. These are only used if you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of the page.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your information (unless we have to keep it by law, such as order records);
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to us using it;
- send your information to you or another company in a common format.
Email hello@keptandkin.com and we'll reply within one month. It's free.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first at hello@keptandkin.com so we can put it right. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you what we're doing about it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
Our shop is for adults (18 and over). We don't knowingly collect information from children.
